Acoustic guitar intermeshes with electric guitar as Canadian guitarist Pascal Landry and New York guitarist Mick Barr, both of whom play in heavy rock and free improvisation settings, meet in Queens, NY to record this intense album of free playing using a diverse set of approaches, intertwining their strings in an insectile swarm of notes and timbres.

Recorded at The Thousand Caves, in Queeens, New York, on July 28th and 29th, 2017, by Colin Marston.
"Insect-Ions is a duet formed by guitar-improvisers Mick Barr (NY) and Pascal Landry (QC). This formation is a rare encounter between two instrumentalists who regularly express themselves as much through extreme metal (Krallice, Encenathrakh, Acédia) as free improvisation. Insect-Ions is also the mix of electric and classical versions of the guitar. The result of a first meeting that took place directly in studio recording (Out.Over.Forever) in the summer of 2017, the enthusiasm of the musicians was such that the experience was to continue. Despite the refined instrumentation, the music of Insect-Ions is dense and precise music. The respective games of the guitarists intertwine and support each other, creating a swarm of notes and timbres."-Insect-Ions
Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Pascal Landry "Pascal Landry is a Canadian guitarist, known for the band Acédia." ^ Hide Bio for Pascal Landry • Show Bio for Mick Barr "Mick Barr is an American avant-garde metal guitarist. Notable for his relentless speed and agility on his instrument, he is most well known for being one half of the band Orthrelm, currently signed to Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings label. Some of Barr's other projects include progressive black metal band Krallice, Crom-tech, and a duo with drummer Zach Hill from Hella, as well as appearances with Quix*o*tic, and The Flying Luttenbachers. He has also released albums under the names Ocrilim and Octis, consisting of his own guitar over a drum machine. On the difference between the two, he says "Ocrilim is Mick Barr overthinking. Octis is Mick Barr underthinking. These names mean nothing when a live show is concerned. Come see Ocrilim and you may be forced to watch Octis." Barr received a 2009 Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists Award. Barr was chosen by Animal Collective to perform at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival that they curated in May 2011." ^ Hide Bio for Mick Barr
