Recorded at Theatre du Pave, in Toulouse, France, on November 4th, 2017, by Jean-Charles Mouchet.
"The piano / trombone duet is a fairly new formation in jazz, improvised music or contemporary music. The music is at the crossroads of these three musical worlds and their respective approaches to the duo and the interactions of these two instruments.
Thus the music of TbPn is conceived by the pianist Xavier Camarasa and arranged by the two instrumentalists / composers / improvisers, by elaborating a language and a writing reflecting this problematic.
This language explores the notion of contrast and duality, at different levels of relationship, from marked contrast to stable equilibrium.
This exploration is carried out on the parameters of sounds and musical postures: between writing and improvisation, between sound material and pitch, between rhythm and white noise, between sound event and silence, between two timbres of separate instruments and constitution of a single instrument stamp to two.
The language developed in the 2 suites reflects the saturation of the sound environment, material and digital current, it reports the destructuration and superposition of temporal sound layers, unrelated, that surround us.
Through the search for links, connections and meanings through connection systems in the constitution of a musical language of its own, TbPn intends to develop a poetry and a form of beauty in resonance with its contemporary universe."-Gigantonium (translated by Google)
