Recorded in Wilton Way studios, London, in December 2018 , and mixed and mastered by Waveahead Studios, Monopoli, in April and June, 2023, Naize was released in December 2023. It is the second album by the trio Frequency Disasters to be released on Mark Wastell's Confront Recordings label after the first, entitled Frequency Disasters was released in September 2020, having been recorded at the same time and studio as Naize.
The trio Frequency Disasters comprises double bassist Pierpaolo Martino who still lives in Italy, drummer and percussionist Valentina Magaletti who was born in Bari, Italy, but now lives in London, UK, and London-based Steve Beresford who here plays prepared piano, electronics and toys. From the start, the most noteworthy characteristic of the threesome is the way their playing meshes together, even though December 2018 was the first time that the three had played together.
Of the two Frequency Disasters albums, it is pointless to ask which is the better; they both make good listening and complement each other well, showing all three players off to good advantage that is a very long way away from the standard piano trio....
