Latitude/Longitude is the Brooklyn based duo of Patrick McCarthy and Michael Garofalo working with like-minded friends to make quirky and delicate song structures. The instrumentation they use - guitars, melodica, synths, electronic kazoo, loops, recorder, percussion, etc. - gives an idea of the drifty blend of electronic and acoustic sounds from which they orchestrate their songs. The songs are spacious with a dreamy and at times folk-experimental quality about them. They're joined on this release by Orin Rigel Dommisee on vocals, Laura Harrison on alto & bass clarinet, and Mikey IQ Jones on duck calls, tapes, sampler and bullhorn. L/L is neither simple nor complex, but just right for a beautiful afternoon or a dark chillout. One of the nicer song records I've heard in quite a while... Each CD sports a unique hand-painted sleeve similar to the one pictured here.
