Suspensao: Sfumato

A substantial live work from the 2019 CreativeFest XIII at O'Culto da Ajuda in Lisbon from the improvising ensemble Sfumato lead by violist Ernesto Rodrigues, fulfilling the title of the album in great tension and suspense as the 11 members improvise, generating waves of activity between concentrated and meditative moments, an incredible example of power and restraint.

California-based sound experimenter and noise artist Crank Sturgeon, aka Matt Anderson, in a limited 2-sided C32 cassette release detailed with red foil and artwork printed onto transparent film, each side a strangely diverse journey in noise, voice, sound collage and unusual improvisation, inexplicable, generally indescribable, and joyfully weird.

A live recording using the natural resonance of Pfarrkirche, Lockenhaus during the 2018 Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus from avant vocalist and improviser Maja S. K. Ratkje, using layers of voice processed by software created by Øyvind Brandtsegg, plus sung parts from the Norwegian traditional "Hanen sten på stabburshella" and the American traditional "Mining for Gold".

Kabako, Solo Dja: Solo

Blind guitarist and singer Solo Dja Kabako is an important figure in Burkina Faso in West Africa, whose talent took him from begging on the streets as a kid to being a treasured artist in his country, here in an album recorded in his home in Ougadougou by saxophonist Assif Tsahar after a festival where they met; a record of warm, sincere music and song.

Konrad Strumpfel & The Set: refrescoscopio [CASSETTE]

An unissued album from Bavarian experimenter & songwriter Konrad Strumpfel and "The Set", the Czech duo of Herbert Lukundra & Josif Afkak, who added their contributions to Strumpfel's work which had been sent to them by post, the strengthening of the "Iron Curtain" between the USSR & Europe in the late 80s then prohibiting the release of their collaboration.

Microtonal composer Kraig Grady in a work for specially adapted brass instruments (Kris Tiner, trumpets; Subhraag Singh-saxophones; Emmett Kim Narushima-trombones) and organ (Terumi Narushima) using a the Meta-Slendro tuning, an obscure 17-tone scale, to create an expansive and organic work assembled from recordings of each musician playing meditations on single notes.
