Reimagining Bach's Three Sonatas for Solo Violin through the lens of Just Intonation, composer Marc Sabat adds a second violin to create intricate harmonic dialogues performed with Sara Cubarsi and Xenia Gogu, where precise microtonal tuning and subtle psychoacoustic resonance reveal new shades of Bach's counterpoint, bridging baroque invention with contemporary exploration.

The third in a series of pieces inspired by ideas in the history of music theory, from composer Marc Sabat and inspired by Renaissance Italian Composer/Theorist Gioseffo Zarlino, performed in a 9-piece ensemble that cycles through voices, strings, harp, and flute, with instruments entering cycles at midpoints of prior loops to create weaving and graceful intersections.

The fifth CD in the Canadian Composers Series is also the debut appearance on Another Timbre by the Jack Quartet, performing works by composer Marc Sabat--two string quartets and a violin/cello duo--all combining an exploration of the soundworld of Just Intonation with a strong underlying lyricism.
