Bringing together Ziv Taubenfeld on bass clarinet and gongs, Helena Espvall on cello, and João Sousa on drums, this trio release weaves restless plucked figures, plaintive bowing, and propulsive percussion into searching improvisations that move from hushed lyricism to surging intensity, evoking dreamlike visions, winged melodies, and the fragile beauty of a song discovered in the act of becoming.

Old Mountain is the Portuguese duo of pianist Pedro Branco and drummer João Sousa, drawing on melodic jazz of the past with a venturous twist, here in their 3rd album, dedicated to Misha Mengelberg, Masabumi Kikuchi, Thelonious Monk and Paul Motian, extended as a quintet with double bassists João Hasselberg & Hernani Faustino and tenor saxophonist Tony Malaby.

Translating to "Fork", Garfo is a modern Portuguese jazz quartet led by tenor saxophonist Bernardo Tinoco, with João Almeida on trumpet, João Fragoso on double bass and João Sousa on drums, all 4 contributing compositions to their lyrically sophisticated music, effortlessly using complex structure and time signatures to propel first-rate free improvisation.
