"Explore new spaces with your voice!

Address the audience with your own lyrics!

Playfully design atonal melodies with wit!

This is how the trio Wunschmusik presents itself.

Birgit Wunsch, voice, Edith Steyer, clarinet/saxophone/voice and

Alberto Cavenati, guitar, create multi-faceted otherness.

A spoken canon about the current quality of the potatoes

just as much its place as the free improvisation of text and sound.

B.W was introduced at an early age by her mother, the classical singer Edith Urbanczyk,

an outstanding interpreter of new music, a completely natural access to atonal melodies

developed.

In connection with a jazz singing course (New School for Social Research in New York) and the

Love of language has crystallized out a musical path of his own.

In between, pocket songs provide twists and turns. These short

crisp statements on current thoughts fit in every smallest pocket and every smallest

brain convolution.

They are brought to life by Birgit Wunsch's multicolored vocals

inspiring inventiveness of Edith Steyer

and Alberto Cavenati's varied use of guitar sounds.

Curious?"-Birgit Wunsch

Artist Biographies

Birgit Wunsch: "Music has actually accompanied the singer from Munich her whole life. Already in her mother's womb she was, so to speak, a participant in musical performances, because she is the daughter of a classical singer. "Shortly thereafter" it continued with music school, piano lessons and several years in the Munich children's choir. As a teenager her musical tastes changed and she began singing in funk bands and attending jazz workshops. At the same time, she grew up quite naturally in an environment of contemporary classical music, which her mother, Edith Urbanczyk, was very committed to. It is these different musical trends that have shaped them and have not let go ever since. This was followed by a move to Berlin, where she took courses in experimental music at the University of the Arts, gained experience in free improvisation and was repeatedly given the opportunity to sing in concerts of contemporary classical music. In the field of jazz, she was a guest singer in a big band and was able to work with musicians such as Thomas Matschuck, both live and in the studio. After youthful worries about not wanting to sound classical under any circumstances, the realization came that she had to continue to train her voice and she took lessons from her mother. After various frustrating attempts, she finally found a wonderful teacher for jazz singing in Richard Harper in New York. In this city, with all its jazz greats and where jazz music can be felt so vividly, she was very fortunate to complete a jazz education at the New School for Social Research, which she completed after 3 years with the batchelor. She used a fourth year to perform and teach, for the first time at a local music school. During her studies she began to compose herself and back in Berlin she produced her first own CD, "Seilich Im Skull", which she recorded with the German and American musicians Gregoire Maret, Steve Bloom, Veit Hübner, Matt Otto and Eric Schäfer and also presented live in various clubs. Birgit Wunsch is a member of various singing ensembles and sings in New E-Music concerts. In jazz formations like "Just Jazz" she has the opportunity to perform with musicians like Tino Derado, Roland Schneider and Robin Draganic. She has been working as a singing teacher for several years and, in addition to giving private lessons, is also a frequent speaker in workshops or a member of the jury for competitions. In addition to the various current projects, she continues to write her own music and has just released her new CD "Atonal Easy Listening Jazz" with the "Birgit Wunsch Quartet"."

"Guitar player and composer Alberto Cavenati was born in the metropolitan area of Milan and grew up just outside of Bergamo, northern Italy. He holds a degree in music from "University of Bologna" and completed a five-years study course in Classical Guitar at the "Conservatorio Luca Marenzio" in Brescia. His education in the field of Jazz and improvised music was marked mostly by Workshops, in particular those held by Siena Jazz, the Amsterdam Conservatory and SIM New York. Significant was also the encounter with pianist Stefano Battaglia under whom he studied improvisation at the Accademia S. Cecilia Bergamo before joining Battaglia's "Theatrum" Ensemble in the context of the "Permanent Laboratory" at Siena Jazz.

Active professionally since the mid 2000s, Alberto collaborated with some of the highest regarded italian jazz musicians. In 2012 Alberto relocated to Berlin, where he currently resides. There he quickly became part of the dynamic and thriving improvised music scene, starting a number of stimulating collaborations. Through the years he had the chance to perform at clubs, festivals and theaters all across Europe, in the U.S. and in Japan."
