"------ The pity of it all - seventies. Cryptated. Generation gap. Hydraulic system. Our tiny bodies.
Big tears. Sightless. Everything in the same direction. And we touched. In these huge houses.
Martha. Night. May 1945. A river boat from Tolkemit. You and many others. Lying on a pile of coal. Trying to sleep? You didnt know then , but you escaped soviet machinegun fire from the sky, you were not done by torpeds, you escaped being turned into an internee by the Soviets, but not your friend that you parted from the day before; many years later his mother recieved the news of his death.
You did come to us, with everything else that could have happened. We are here now.Worried and relieved. Gazing up against the night sky. We can hear the brackish Baltic Sea waters split towards the bow. Unknowledgable. Did u see the stars?
An inexorably, merciless suction from within the future made you survive. The night wind as fate in your young face. My children. And yours. What would have happend if you didn´t? You were only nineteen?"-Martin Küchen

His music is characterized by honesty, spontaneity, passion, and playfulness. His recorded output ranges from straight ahead jazz to free form to electronica. He has toured with musicians like Benny Golson, Tim Hagans, Lina Nyberg, Timbuktu and Fredrik Ljungkvist. He has released nine albums as a leader. Mathias Landæus was born in Lund, Sweden in 1969. He grew up in a musical family and started improvising on the piano as a child. In his teens he started playing in local jazz, soul and hip hop bands. In 1992 he moved to New York to study jazz and classical music at The Mannes College Of Music. Among his piano teachers were Richie Beirach and Jaki Byard. Upon returning to Sweden in 1995, he was immediately signed to the Amigo label and his first album "Blåbete" was released to much critical acclaim. During the years that followed Landæus got firmly rooted in Stockholm. He vitalized the local scene by creating an oasis for jazz musicians and listeners at the small club "Glenn Miller Café" where he led the house band several nights a week. This became an important inspiration for the next generation of budding jazz musicians. During these years Mathias played with many prominent Swedish jazz musicians from all generations. Between 2002 and 2004 he held the piano chair in the Norrbotten Big Band which was led by Tim Hagans. Between 2002 and 2008 he was been a member of singer Lina Nyberg's band, a very creative and expressive unit that strayed as far as Brazil and Vietnam. Among his own projects are the band "House of Approximation" which has been featured on three well-recieved albums and electronica/nu jazz project Reunion. In 2009 he formed his current trio with legendary bassist Palle Danielsson and celebrated drummer Jon Fält. Their album debut "Opening" was released on MA Recordings." ^ Hide Bio for Mathias Landaeus • Show Bio for Johnny Aman "Johnny Åman was born on February 10th, 1986 in a small city called Nykarleby on the west coast of Finland. 2005 he moved to Sweden to study music at Malmö Academy of Music, and in may 2010 he graduated with a masters degree.
