Recorded by Agusti Fernandez himself at La Pedrera Barcelona as part of a series of concerts "De Prop" curated by Laura Herrero and Roger Roca, these are lovely dialogs between the pianist and Derek Bailey on electric; rich and reserved conversation with free improvisation's elder statesman.
"The British free improvising guitarist Derek Bailey relocated to Barcelona in 2003. During his time in this vibrant city there were numerous musical meetings. This live duo concert recording with Agusti Fernandez at La Pedrera in May 2005 was one such occassion.
A Silent Dance is released on Incus Records under the umbrella of "The Barcelona Chronicles". These recordings document Derek's new approach to his instrument, whilst dealing with the complex and progressive limitations caused by Motor Neurone Disease. Here was someone for whom obstacles were occasions for necessary creativity. This was to be his last public performance."-Incus Records, from the back cover.
