"The legendary saxophonist from Catalunya strikes again, this time in trio, with a collection of his own compositions (including a tribute to the film director Andrej Tarkovski), a couple of group improvisations, and a Thomas Chapin cover.
Zaidin is the new achievement by an extraordinary musician who played Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman" with Agusti Fernandez, collaborated with the influential Spanish experimental group "Gringos", is part of the activities of El Pricto's Discordian Records in honor of the goddess Erin and, in these last years, is developing a rich and proficuous collaboration with Vasco Trilla, a free improvising drummer coming from black metal.
And here again is Trilla with his unquiet drumsticks, in close a-rhytmic and poli-rhytmic combinations with bassist Alex Reviriego. Together with Liba Villavecchia these two music troublemakers offer us a very special excavation of possibilities under the label "jazz". Many decades passed since Villavecchia was a student in the New England Conservatory, and we keep counting."-Clean Feed
