In the spirit of Downtown NY by merging forms of jazz, rock and experimental music, Chris Pitsiokos bookends his album with two solo pieces, joining forces with NY electric guitarist Rick Eye for 4 tracks and drummer Jason Nazary joining for 3 tracks, as Pitsiokis performs on alto & baritone sax, harmonica, electric bass, guitar & drums, electronic instruments & voice.
In the spirit of the Downtown NY legacy, saxophonist Chris Pitsiokos' LP merges forms of jazz, rock and experimental music in a demanding but compelling album that refuses to acknowledge boundaries. Developed with NY guitarist Rick Eye, who performs on four of the tracks, the album is often darkly electric with spoken word sections guiding the music. Pitsiokis performs on alto & baritone sax, harmonica, electric bass, guitar & drums, electronic instruments & voice, showing the breadth of his interests and abilities. Drummer Jason Nazary performs on drums for three tracks, two of which Pitsiokis titles as "Journals" one the "Burden of Solidity" and the other "The Burden of Memory". Bookending the album are solo works by Pitsiokis, the first an invocation in the style of his extreme sax solo work, performed as a virtual duo; the final piece a wordless song over strumming guitar work performed by Pitsiokis. A fascinating and unique release from an artist presenting a wide range of interests.
