Using electronic and digital tools similar to those that fuel his Arcane Device project, New York sound artist David Lee Myers presents an accessibly engaging set of compositions using modular electronics, feedback matrices, guitar textures, voices, and frogs in 11 polyrhythmic adventures. Each track is named as a combination of syllables that place them somewhere in the realm of science, like an unknown prescription drug, or perhaps a yet-to-be-discovered atomic element. The diversity of sound and approach on each keeps the album interesting, from pieces that sound like Raymond Scott might have composed them, to work clearly in the Arcane Device realm. Myer's years working with electronics and feedback enrich each piece through subtle shifts as they evolve through dimensional soundscapes. The results are an inventive album of quirky yet non-chaotic, sublime experimental works of tone, rhythm and texture.
