Starting in 1989, the Variety Orchestra and its offshoots have appeared at NY's Knitting Factory, La MaMa Dance Theater Workshop and Fez. Woodbury, an LA based songwriter, TV and theater composer, studied with Tom Lehrer and Pauline Oliveros. This CD is a mix of melodic post-modern jazz compositions drawing on latin, big band, bar band, chorale, americana and other compositional forms. Featured players include Marc Feldman, Sarah Parkins, Frank London, Marc Muller, Steve Elson, Will Connell, Kurt Hoffman, Dan Morris, Jonathan Feinberg, Michael Webster, Guy Klucevsek and Nick Ariondo.
