In a surreal electroacoustic encounter recorded live in Hannover, the quartet of AGogol, NaabtalDeath (Jerome Noetinger), Ernesto Rodrigues, and Guilherme Rodrigues deconstructs chamber music into a visceral, alchemical performance of modified strings, electronics, and crackling noise, blending absurd vocalizations, brutal textures, and delicate atmospheres into a raw, dreamlike sound theater.

Live recording at Tonhalle , in Hannover, Germany, on October 20th, 2024, by Felix Petry.
"An unusual encounter, on October 20th, 2024, in Hanover: Andreas Gogol from Berlin with electric guitar, electronics, and vocals, his NaabtalDeath buddy as a zither torturer, and Guilherme R. on cello. Ernesto, his father, traveled from Lisbon with viola and crackle box to play a few gigs with him - the one with Maximilian Glass on October 26 in Berlin is captured as "Beyond the mist and the unforeseen encounters" (CS 863).
As an unusual 'string quartet,' the four unfold an electroacoustic mystery theater by turning chamber music upside down, like Baselitz with his paintings - 'playing the painting upside down.' With treble and sharpening strokes, metallic touches, amorphous noise, wiry and grumbling recalcitrance. As processes in which surreal ringing sounds and absurd vocals merge dreamily with a scratchy Art Brut.
Whirring, bouncing, scraping, pecking, and squeaking, there is a quasi-alchemical reaction of cacophony and sonorous. Pressing and rumbling, plonking and glissando, creaking and shrilling, hard and soft merge. The abysmal climaxes altissimo, the crackle box chirps until the pig whistles. But the tender moments endure, even when the ticking, pecking encore frantically saws away at the solid and secure, and the foundations creak alarmingly."-Rigobert Dittmann, Bad Alchemy

Noetinger is an experimental musician who performs both solo and with a trio, and "NaabtalDeath" is one of the names he uses for these performances. He was born in Marseille in April 1966 and discovered experimental music through the band Déficit Des Années Antérieures. He further studied electroacoustic music from 1986-1988 at COREAM in Fontaine. ^ Hide Bio for NaabtalDeath • Show Bio for Ernesto Rodrigues "He has been playing the violin for 30 years and in that time has played all genres of music ranging from contemporary music to free jazz and improvised music, live and in the studio. His main interest shifted towards contemporary improvised and composed music. The relationship with his instruments is focused in sonic and textural elements. Electronic music was an early influence on his approach to violin playing, which challenges traditional romantic concepts of the violin/viola through use of preparations and micro tuning. Active in different settings on the Portuguese scene for free improvised music, both as a collaborator and in leading his own groups. Music for Dance, Cinema, Video and Performance. Has created the record label Creative Sources Recordings in 1999, which mainly concentrates on releasing experimental and electro-acoustic music." ^ Hide Bio for Ernesto Rodrigues • Show Bio for Guilherme Rodrigues "Was born 1988 in Lisboa, Portugal and started playing cello and trumpet at Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa at the age of 7.
