Artist Biographies:

"Alice Eldridge is a hybrid musician-coder-scientist-maker, currently working in Music Technology and Environment at the University of Sussex.

A background in music, psychology (BSc), evolutionary and adaptive systems (MSc) and music informatics (PhD) informs wide-ranging, sound-based research, for which she is recognised internationally across musical, computing and scientific disciplines. As a cellist she has collaborated with some of Europe's boldest improvisers and avant garde artists and is one quarter of award-winning ensemble, Collectress. She has appeared on BBC TV and BBC radio 4 as a soundscape ecologist; on BBC radio 3 as a free jazz cellist; on BBC radio 6 as a contemporary chamber composer; and on BBC radio 1 as a pop bassist.

Current research includes the development of an app for networked, dynamic music notation, Synchphonia, ecoacoustics research for acoustic biodiversity monitoring, an AHRC network on Humanising Algorithmic Listening and an experimental luthiary and performance project, building and performing with an electro-acoustic-digital musical instrument, the Resonating Feedback Cello. Her work in all domains is driven by a simple joy in making and listening to sound."

Chris' research often focuses on participatory design and development of interactive music systems in everyday settings, including digital instruments for children with disabilities, and development of the NETEM networked score system for musical ensembles. His work also concentrates on machine learning and signal processing for audio and interaction, with a particular emphasis on nonlinear and dynamical systems."
