descriptions, reviews, &c.

"Electric Guitar (and banjo): Phil Gibbs, one of the constant alter-ego of the great saxophonist Paul Dunmall. Percussion: Marcello Magliocchi a real wisp Pugliese of alternative battery in the best line Lovens -Turner - Blume. Soprano saxophone and alto Londoner biting and distendeur of polymodality: Adrian Northover. Cello (and voice), Maresuke OkamotoEnigmatic Japanese improviser forever wrinkled Japanese at the scene and in the city.

To our happiness, the group is not uniformly related to a particular aesthetic with a strong common denominator such as the legendary trio Iskra 1903 (Bailey Guy Rutherford). These artists have been asked to meet successively over time, Magliocchi and Okamoto in Italian and Portuguese rounds, Northover and Magliocchi in London and Italy extensively from 2015 to this day, Phil Gibbs then meeting Magliocchi Vortex and Adrian Northover to I'Klectic, but rather an intuitive friendly assembling a strategy focused on a very selective common denominator. Finally the four meet October 17 to London for a session where their differences are married with their research spirit. An ad hoc session with artists who can evolve independently in interesting ways.

It means Okamoto reciting incomprehensible Japanese history as the waves / curls more or less repetitive guitarist evolve without apparent connection with metal rubbing and scratching of percussive astringent Magliocchi and play contorted barely audible to Northover. And the building holds up. At other times, cellist meets deep convoluted intervals sharp soprano sax. Reign excellent sound balance of the four individuals in the auditory field. An inextricable volubility where listening is predominant harmonically, intervals rustling rhizomes, keys and suggested modes. Because the suggestion is the main mode of the intercom - poetic interaction.

Everywhere Mini crackling - accelerated bearings, wooded or metal drummer comment exchanges, communicating a kind of madness while maintaining a scientist control over the quality of its strikes and their multiplicities - sound varieties and their pace to the split second. Significant changes atmospheres pointing the nose without there seems, so what maintained a rate as spinning qu'accidentée. An ability to suddenly flying a remarkable feature in the invention of a volatile co-workers and to reintroduce subtly... and spontaneously changes worked. It seems to me that each of its artists might - be individually better emphasized in another group configuration (duo - trio..). But faced with the reality of the present moment, they fill these 59 minutes of inventions, delusions without blinking, and are valid evolve their sound research over the seven improvisations.

The fifth reached, probably a second state of consciousness, spurred by the crazy game of microtonal and violently An ability to suddenly flying a remarkable feature in the invention of a volatile co-workers and to reintroduce subtly... and spontaneously changes worked. It seems to me that each of its artists might - be individually better emphasized in another group configuration (duo - trio..). In doing so, releases the reentry Magliocchi fury and velocity of the bow Okamoto, Northover having a real sense of cool, both cozy and dynamic creating a beautiful space for his colleagues. In this group, note, Adrian Northover refrains from sending mashed potatoes, but I've heard explode soprano sound fortissimo with Marcello Magliocchi furious. Creativity and understanding of the group get better in the last two pieces, Shanty and Sezu, Slightly longer than the previous. Longer probably because matter becomes denser, more experienced, more varied, much less predictable and more convincing. One more try, forget his reflexes. Some groups seem at first more successful, such as those confirmed sizes duets that are made for the un.e another and can not fail. This session is emerging as an improvisation lesson of self-transformation, sharing and discovery where nothing is taken for granted and everything to gain. "-Orynx Improv (translated by Google)
