descriptions, reviews, &c.

"Afrit is a powerful demon in Arabian myths; Nebula is an interstellar cloud of dust.

Elaine Edwards has been playing and teaching flute as well as playing tenor and soprano saxophone for many years (her website is here). In addition to Afrit Nebula, she co-founded The Moors with Ken.

Jamie Harris played with the jazz improviser Trevor Watts in the Celebration Band and also as a duo which made albums and toured in many countries.

Ken Edwards is a writer and editor as well as a musician. His blog and personal website is here and he also runs the adventurous literary press Reality Street."-Afrit Nebula website

Artist Biographies:

"Elaine Edward: My first memory of playing piano was my father teaching me 'Chopsticks', closely followed by playing songs I had been learning at school. I also loved playing Latin music and 'The Godfather' on the Yamaha electric organ. Very soon I was having formal lessons with a piano teacher, taking my grades, performing in local functions and learning to cope with performance nerves. Being a sociable child, I gave up a couple of times to 'be with my friends', but I did have an inner need to play so I would always keep returning.

When I started the flute much later, there was no looking back. Many hours of serious study and practice resulted in my being accepted on a music and performance art degree. I gave up my office job in London to immerse myself completely in studying music. I discovered the joy of improvisation, working creatively in many styles and composing music for dance and art projects. I have always appreciated the help and encouragement I had from music teachers, who helped me overcome those sometimes demoralising difficulties one can experience when playing an instrument.

Since graduating over 20 years ago I have worked as a music teacher and a head of music in secondary schools, teaching up to A level in music. I have taught adults at Morley College in London, and later in primary schools. I have taught privately, and also since 2005 with the East Sussex Music Service.

I play professionally and work to keep up my own playing. In 2008 I co-founded The Moors, a band that has become popular in Hastings and further afield."

"United kingdom percussionist Jamie Harris, who loves to bang in fairly portable products including congas, djembe, and darbouka, is most beneficial known for performing within a duo setting using the great saxophonist Trevor W. Appearing out of a history of free of charge improvisation where his early companions were radical vendors of noise such as for example fellow saxophonist Evan Parker and guitarist Derek Bailey, W amazed many listeners by changing the frame-up of his improvising configurations in order that his accompaniment will be created generally by percussionists, especially people that have Afro-jazz leanings. W and Harris started their relationship - known basically as the Duo - during 1999. Viewers all over have noticed this combination, regarded by many enthusiastic listeners to become the best distillation of W' fascination with rhythmically billed sax and percussion improvisation. Harris provides traveled along with his old coach to gigs in the Dominican Republic, Barbados, Brazil, Chile, Peru, New Zealand, and Australia, not forgetting america, Canada, and European countries. This isn't the same Jamie Harris who has saxophone in Florida rings Mr. Eliminated and Afro Components."
