And How The Who Can Think the What... [Used Item]

Gauden / Hanslip: And How The Who Can Think the What... [Used Item] (FMR)

UK Tenor saxophonist Mark Hanslip and drummer Ed Gauden in their 3rd record together, here stripped down to a duo, inspired by a planned trio concert where the pianist was unable to perform; the resulting show worked so well that the two decided to take it to the studio, this album the result of impressive avant interchanges in 8 succinct tracks.

descriptions, reviews, &c.
Previously played Squidco store copy, used for cataloging and samples, in excellent condition.

"This is the third outing on CD from Mark Hanslip and Ed Gauden, but the first for FMR. This time as a duo The pair were originally billed to play a concert as a trio with a pianist, who had to drop out at the last minute, forcing the two remaining musicians to do a duo set. They enjoyed it very much, and felt it was good enough to get their duo on tape, so they went into the studio and this is the result"-FMR

Artist Biographies:

"Tenor saxophonist Mark Hanslip emerged as a key player on the London jazz scene in the mid-2000s, rehearsing, touring and recording with groups such as Outhouse, Nostalgia 77, Jonathan Bratoeff Quartet and TOM-MIX (featuring the late drummer Tony Marsh), working with major figures including Steve Lacy, Kenny Wheeler and Bob Brookmeyer (as a regular member of Hans Koller's large ensembles) and freelancing with pop bands.

Now based in Manchester, he currently plays with HTrio, folk-jazz group Twelves, drummer/composer Johnny Hunter's group, and as part of the north's rich improvised music scene with Andrew Cheetham, Phils Morton and Marks, Stephen Grew and Otto Willberg."

Ed Gauden, Jazz Drummer, attended Birmingham Conservatoire, Birmingham, United Kingdom, and Bridgnorth Endowed School

"We all studied "jazz" at the Birmingham Conservatoire (UK) at different times. Barry was in the year above me (ed) but we soon realised we had very similar ideas of what we like about music in general. I (ed) left the scene for a few years but stayed in touch with Barry. I met Mark through my teacher (Tony Bianco) and called him up for a play. Again we found a mutual ground regarding what we dug about music, and when the 3 of us got together it just worked.

This music is the result of us just getting together and playing, nothing was said before we played and little after. Enjoy."-Ed Gauden
