descriptions, reviews, &c.

"MV Carbon slips greasy tunes between perished rubber mats and smears it on the parquet.

This mixture of ultra-brilliant-synth-darkness and Rumplestiltskin slow-rap makes me think of Steel Pulse raised on home-dubbed noise tapes rather than heavy Handsworth pressure.

Fluent and fluttering 'whaps' coil Uzumaki-style under sheets of neon-blue keyboard. It's fair addictive! It's fair intoxicating.

Lightening shudders in freeze-frame, a zoetrope in sound. But the one constant is the voice...the voice and the song.

For where would we be without the song eh? The human voice all tra-la-la adding an essential blood-warmth to your regular lute or sackbut etc. And it's the song that gets you here on The Sun Will Turn on You. MV Carbon's simple song, half-remembered by any parent or nurse; familiar as mumps yet distant as those splendid ivory toothpicks."-Discombobulate

"MV Carbon is a New York City based, interdisciplinary artist and composer. Her work is comprised of sound, installation, projection, and performance. She aims transform space with the use of sonics and projection. Her intention is to provoke an extrasensory awareness through warping the boundaries of time and space. She endorses a fluid exchange between the spectator and the art form and often calls for participation from the viewer. She works to transcend the limitations of categorization and to contrive an ongoing sense of attainability. Embracing a non-traditional approach to music, she plays cello, zithers, gongs, amplified objects, electronics and crafted instruments. Layered rhythms are formed with synthesizers, oscillators, drum machines, radio receivers, samplers, gongs, and found objects.

Carbon has done residencies at EMS (SE), Issue Project Room (NY), The Clockower Gallery (NY), and Roulette, (NY). She has composed work for The String Orchestra of Brooklyn through the String Theories Program with support from Issue Project Room and the String Orchestra of Brooklyn. She has performed at spaces including The Metropolitan Museum of Art (NY), PS1-MoMA (NY), The Guggenheim BMW Lab (NY), The Copenhagen Music Theater (DK), ULU (UK), Nefertiti Jazz Club (SE), Socrates Sculpture Park (NY), The Stone (NY), Performa 2011(NY), Roulette NY), The Sage (UK), Casa Des Artes, (PT), Worm (NL), The Tate Modern (UK), and many more!

She is interested in sonic projection and psychoacoustics. Her current work explores interchangeability, the human mechanism, perceptive states of consciousness, and the forces of nature.

Carbon has had the honor and opportunity to collaborate with many of her favorite artists including: Aki Onda, Audrey Chen, Brian Chase, Spencer Yeh, Carlos Giffoni, Charlemagne Palestine, Evan Parker, Henrik Rylander, J Gräf, John Edwards, John Wiese, Lary 7, Lea Bertucci, Lesley Flanigan, Maria Chavez, Mario Diaz de Leon, Nick Zinner, Okkyung Lee, Shahin Motia, Shelly Hirsch, Tony Conrad, Tristan Perich, Twig Harper, Victoria Keddie, Zach Layton, and many more..."-MV Carbon Website
