Tektite is European improvising bassist Inegbrigt Haker Flaten's new label to release solo and ensemble work; "Birds" presents 5 solo recordings from Grand Sport Studio in Oslo, 2007, and one track recorded live at The Hideout in Chicago, 2008. This is Haker Flaten's first solo electric album, performing on guitar.

"Over the past few years I have been giving a lot of thought to releasing music that would focus on the underground, creative music scenes of the United States and Scandinavia. Knowing that there is a wide variety of new and compelling music available. So, after much deliberation and hard work, I started up Tektite Records in January of 2012. Currently, the label's roster consists of my solo work, but there are immediate plans to release my resent ensemble work and also some solo recordings of artists from Texas and New York.

"Ingebrigt Haker Flaten has established himself as one of the strongest voices on bass in jazz and improvised music on the international circuit today. His work with his own projects, as well as with The Thing, Atomic, Free Fall, Scorch, and in duo formats with Joe McPhee, Evan Parker and Håkon Kornstad have put him at the center of a large pool of improvisers with strikingly different modes of operation."-Ingebrigt Haker Flaten website
