Bertrand Denzler composed this pseudo-drone work performed by the ONCEIM Orchestra, allowing the orchestra members to make decisions in order to keep the drone alive while moving within a small, pre-established musical perimeter defined by the composer.

Denzler, Bertrand / ONCEIM: Morph (Confront)

Label: Confront
Released in: Great Britain

Morph is based on the same principle as Horns 1.2 (CCS 38). It's a "pseudo-drone" piece, the overall sound of the ensemble or orchestra being structured by the decisions the musicians have to take in order to keep this sound alive while moving in a small, pre-established musical perimeter."-Confront

Concert of the Orchestra National de Creation, Experimentation and Improvisation Musical (ONCEIM)

The ONCEIM involves the invention of a new mode of collective game together in a large plastic sound approach where each musician has a major creative role, the music building on each unique virtuosity and musical vocabulary they have developed. Created and directed by pianist improviser Frederic Blondy, the ONCEIM brings together top-flight musicians from disparate musical backgrounds: improvised music (Hubbub, Zoor), jazz (Orchestre National de Jazz, Big Umlaut Band), free jazz (Actuum, The Fish Die Hochstapler), classical and contemporary music (IRCAM, Orchestre National de France, Ensemble Intercontemporain, The Balcony), contemporary music (Makhno, Zombie Zombie silver-Moon), experimental music (Arnaud Rivière).
