descriptions, reviews, &c.

"It is good news that the band is not only still going strong but has also been able to logically further develop its concept. Sometimes sumptuously floating, then enormously gripping again, always alert and artful and full of musical refinement, inviting into open spaces that are filled in a well-paced and thoughtful manner. Composition and improvisation balance each other out. Wonderful themes full of atmosphere are developed and played around with. The question of whether these sounds are jazz, rock, pop or sounds with a hint of classical becomes completely irrelevant. It melts into insignificance behind amazement at this striking, deeply-focused music, which generates a high feel-good factor not swathed in complacency, and in an altogether fresh way constructs its edifice of moods, nuances and details. It is the group sound that counts.

The review ascribed to this German, French, Swiss quartet "undreamt-of tonal possibilities" following its debut CD "How to Catch a Cloud" in the year 2011. Elsewhere they were described as playing "idiosyncratic compelling music with great subtlety", as exhibiting "all kinds of flights of fancy", as "happening", as having "enormously diverse group interconnections". Earthy, rich in detail, rocky, contemporary. The listener is invited "to let his heart be warmed by the cool songs"

The international praise was unanimous and again and again emphasised what is special about this band: the unusual line-up with saxophone, percussion and the two stringed instruments, guitar and cello, the abandonment of the sequence, so central to jazz, of theme and solo, the blending of various influences to form something as thrilling as it is dreamy, something completely and utterly new. The musical finesse of the four adds up to a grandiose fresh group sound that keeps pace with the zeitgeist as it relishes filling the space and beguiles the listener. These are essentially the same pieces that are illuminated afresh in live performance and prove themselves to be sound launch pads for this rough impressionism. Without imposing, this band organism allows magic to grow: always new interconnections, subtle groove, precisely derived points of departure and arrival within the framework of a fascinating dramaturgy.

Meditative, honest and in full, yet never overflowing arcs, this produces floating in open space. This band is serendipity. Its range is wide. It focuses on the collective and not on self- representation of the individual. Nevertheless, there is enough space for extraordinary solos. Each of those involved has been celebrated in various contexts as an extraordinary instrumentalist. This music has this as a requirement without having to exhibit it. It concerns the balance of rational and intuition.

Or to stay with the image of floating clouds from the CD title: their composition might be scientifically researched yet to delight in the interplay of their images, it is not necessary to know anything about this. On a sensuous emotional level, this music excites the imagination. It defines in a wondrous way that extra something that only good art manages to generate. It does not have to impose because it is aware of its resources. It is precisely from the subtle, not the superficial that its fascination emanates, and it increases on every hearing."-Arjunamusic
