"star_birth was written for the percussionist Justin Alexander. The piece is formed out of small motives which conglomerate into larger structures and then dissipate into relative inactivity. An appropriate analogy for the process is star birth, whereby stars are formed through gravitational attraction inside giant clouds of dust. The quad surround recording of star_birth places the listener inside the large percussion setup. Included below is an approximate diagram of the percussion setup (from the performance directions in the star_birth score). star_birth is available in all formats except cube.
heap is a study of the enormous variety of sounds that metal objects can produce. The already complex timbres of the metallic sounds are further explored through computer manipulation and are given spatial form via multiple loudspeakers."-Sound-Space Audio Lab
