Bringing together masterful players Paul Dunmall (sax), Hilary Jeffery (trombone), Alexander Von Schlippenbach (piano), Paul Schuber (sax), Mike Majkowski (bass), and Yorgos Dimitriadis (drums) for a studio release of incredibly well-balanced and insightful improvisation.
Red Dhal Sextet (Jeffery / Schubert / Dunmall / Schlippenbach / Majkowski / Dimitriadis)
Red Dhal Sextet
Released in: Great Britain
Superbly recorded in Berlin, the detail on each recording can be clearly heard, as the tracks build from delicate diaog to intense interaction. Each track names a color of Dhal, the Indian word for lentils, though the reference is left to the imagination of the lsitener. Lentils or no, this is an excellent example of modern playing and is highly recommended!
