Released in: Japan

"Hontatedori is the first album by the trio of Taku Unami, Moé Kamura, Tetuzi Akiyama who had been playing together as a permanent group without its name since October 2009. They hesitantly began to use Hontatedori as the name of their group after this album was released. Their songs are based on monophonic score written by Unami that sounds like medieval Plainchant but peculiar one, together with words arranged by Kamura as if collecting the thread of tales, which are somehow familiar yet anonymous, accompanied with Akiyama's hallucinating electric guitar with custom made tape echo. Originally their music sounded as covert and whispering folk music, however, they've come to the sound of quiet funkness and cold psychedelia after years of their activity specially during the recording of this album. Every process of Hontatedori's music is done by all three of the trio.

TAKU UNAMI (guitar, bass, etc.)

Taku Unami starts his music career from late 90's in the field of improvised music by several string instruments or computer, then has been shifting his activity towards conceptual works with Mattin, Jarrod Fowler and some others, and also idiomatic music groups including HOSE which is described as "depressive easy listening". Hontatedori is his first band where he could find himself greenly as one angle of a triangle. He is running small label hibari music since 2002, and also has been working as recording engineer and soundtrack composer for films.Moé

Kamura (voice,etc.)

Since '80s Kamura has been communicating with people through music, playing and singing her original songs, also producing music for dramas. Then she formed an irregular band "Hotorapikara" with Koyo Chan, to play their original music and started to experiment with their live performances. She became active again in 2002 after having been absent from activity for a decade. She happened to meet Taku Sugimoto at her favorite café which led them to start a joint project. In the same time period, she has participated in "sim" by Teruyuki Oshima, "chamber music concert Series" produced and composed by Taku Unami, Masahiko Okura, and Taku Sugimoto, and "Katarimono" by Haruyuki Suzuki, amoung others. When she met Sugimoto her thoughts were on playing in such a way as if the "song" is being placed gently, the words and sounds as such a phenomenon which emerges and disappears, and the intensity and the limits of all of them. The chance meeting with Sugimoto who was also at a turning point in his career, brought them together to form a unit. And here she enjoys the remarkable relationship in music and anything of Hontatedori. That is as if sailing without having a destination.

TETUZI AKIYAMA (guitars, maracas)

Tetuzi Akiyama plays the guitar with primitive and practical implications, by adding a desire of own to the instrument's characteristic nature in minimal and straight method. He delicately and sometime boldly controls the dynamics of the sound from micro to macro level, and tries to quantize his physical system. Besides making variety of solo albums which covers from fingerpicking and slide acoustic guitar atonalism to noisy experimental drone to never ending boogie, he has made many albums in collaboration with highly praised artists such as Jozef Van Wissem, Donald McPherson, Greg Malcolm, Bruce Russell, Günter Müller, Jason Kahn, Michel Henritzi, Phantom Limb, Gul3, Tim Barnes, Oren Ambarchi, Martin Ng and Alan Licht, just to name a few. He is also a band member of Koboku Senjû, Satanic Abandoned Rock & Roll Society and Hontatedori. Working with Hontatedori, where he was invited by Unami & Kamura, whom he had been respecting for a long time, he was given a perfect opportunity to experiment and utilise his aesthetic in acoustic for songs. Akiyama has been frequently invited for international music festivals in East & West Europe, North & South America, Australia and New Zealand in recent years."

"Taku Unami was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1976. He is a composer and improviser working with assorted stringed instruments, including the guitar, mandolin, and contraguitar, laptop and vibrating objects (from which he amplifies the inaudible vibrations). Despite being linked to minimal improvisation his music is hardly classifiable, being able to surprise listeners on every new release, raising unforeseen questions and forging new paths for improvisation. He is part of the group HOSE and has active collaborations with Mattin, Taku Sugimoto and Masahiko Okura. In the past he has worked with Radu Malfatti, Jean-Luc Guionnet, Klaus Filip, Masafumi Ezaki, Burkhard Stangl, Rhodri Davies and Keith Rowe, among others. Unami has also composed for film, including 'Lost My Way' (directed by Takeshi Furusawa) and 'In 1,000,000 years' (directed by Isao Okishima). He has released more than 30 records, both solo and in numerous groups and collaborations. He runs the influential label Hibari Music and co-organizes the Tokyo concert series Chamber Music Concerts with Taku Sugimoto and Masahiko Okura."

"Tetuzi Akiyama (Akiyama Tetsuji) (born 13 April 1964) is a Japanese guitarist, violinist, and instrument-maker. Akiyama formed the improvisation group Madhar in 1987, and the classical ensemble Hikyo String Quintet in 1994 (which also included Taku Sugimoto on cello). In 1995, Akiyama and Sugimoto formed a guitar duo, and played at venues in New York City, Chicago, and Detroit. During this time, Akiyama was also a member of Keiji Haino's Nijiumu outfit. Akiyama also formed Sutekina Tea Time (a duo with Takashi Matsuoka) and Mongoose (a trio with Taku Sugimoto and Utah Kawasaki).

In 1998 Akiyama began organising a monthly concert series, The Improvisation Meeting, with Toshimaru Nakamura. In December 2006 he began a regular duo with Hervé Boghossian (France), they toured in Europe (France, Portugal, Switzerland, England) several times in 2007 (in May, October & December) & also played in Tokyo during Hervé Boghossian Japanese tour in August/September 2008. In 2009 he worked with David Sylvian."
