Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

Multi-reedist Peter Brotzmann and drummer/percussionist Hamid Drake met in the studio in New York City in April 2010 to record this double album of fiercely intense and beautiful improvised music. Consisting of 6 improvisations, two of which are side long, the interaction between these long-time collaborators is stunning - Drake is an inventive and passionate drummer, drawing out fearsome cries from Brotzmann, who performs on alto & tenor sax, B-flat clarinet, and tarogato. The picture on the back shows the two performers in the studio after the recordings were complete, Drake with a wide smile, and Brotzmann drenched in sweat; you'll feel the same after hearing this release!
