The Brooklyn trio of Buckminster in a quirky and charming release of improvisation, spoken dialog, and unusual discourse. The band has performed since 2008, with dates around NYC including playing Roulette; Henkel is also a part of Five Dollar Ferrari, Swirm and Sunshine Soldier. The striking thing about these recordings is the variety of techniques and approaches to instrumental composition and instrumental technique that the band uses, along with the integration of voice(s), alone or in context to the music. The instrumental passages are an excellent example of modern improvisational form with a NYC flair, and the interjections of voice and odd tangents draws the listener into their unusual approach to creating music. A thoroughly modern band that delivers a great album.
