"Alfred Harth was born in 1949 in Kronberg im Taunus (near Frankfurt), Germany, and artistically initiated by visiting a dada exhibition in 1958 in Frankfurt/Main. With his essay "On Synaesthetics" in 1967 he opened his creative horizons to a large variety of artistic fields. He included classical string players in his free improvisation group Just Music in 1967 and opened the same year the platform centrum freier cunst in Frankfurt-a meeting point for live free music, art exhibitions, experimental poetry, action, and happening events."-Wikipedia
"All tracks were driven by the motivation to improve the Just Music (JuMu) language and to unbundle the large ensemble for the sake of trios or later those duos.Trumpeter Michael Sell was the head figure of the "Free Jazz Group Wiesbaden" who also performed at the CFC. Today Sell is famous for his Musica Nova compositions. Thomas Cremer formed a short trio together with Sell and Volhard. The JuMu string section trios (minus Stoewsand on cello and minus Teplitz on violin) are very European musique concrete instrumentale a la Lachenmann (who was not known to us at those times). The fickle personnel in JuMu throughout the years were due mostly to emerging military service obligations or the beginning of university studies, which rendered various players unavailable. But this volatile situation also kept the JuMu core artistically more flexible. I myself tried to arrange all my outside-music activities (university and war resister's service) to take place in Frankfurt near to the CFC though I also spent times in Belgium and Muenchen during the beginning 70ies."-Alfred Harth
