Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

"Long one of Boston's musical gems, The Fully Celebrated is a jazz band who started by playing rock clubs like the young punks they were, developing along the way into the sages they have become. Following a series of European and self-releases, Drunk On The Blood Of The Holy Ones is their auspicious AUM Fidelity debut: a stellar set of all new compositions, recorded live in the studio and then mixed utilizing the latest dub technology.

The album cannot be pegged as each track is a fully different/fully realized aural experience of AUM level engage. Principal composer/band leader Jim Hobbs is an untouchably gifted master of the alto saxophone, producing a holy array of sounds from his horn that the instrument was not originally designed to manifest. The Fully Celebrated wield an incomparable arsenal of ways and means to transform the here and now through mighty song and trio massage. Joyous bounce and sway, punkolodic riffage, mesmerizing incantation/cosmic groove & a stone flux version of the classic Stalag riddim, dubfully rendered in Brooklyn on the eve of Election '08 with dew of '09 in mind.

The CD also contains an embedded music video: the animated skateboard groove and flex film Can You Do The Mackie Burnette? which also features cornetist Taylor Ho Bynum, who was a member of The FCO for a few years at the dawn of this century."-Aum Fidelity

"Timo Shanko grew up in Santa Monica, CA, where he studied electric bass before attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1989. Timo was a founding member of the Fully Celebrated Orchestra with alto saxophonist Jim Hobbs. In the '90s, he toured with blues master Eddie Kirkland as bassist and Band Director, and co-founded the Prodigal Suns, who were signed to Geffen Records. He then developed his skills on tenor saxophone and now plays both bass and sax equally. In 2009, Timo joined G. Love & Special Sauce, touring major venues in the US, Japan, Australia, and also performed with many major artists. In addition to his own trio, Timo currently performs with Dub Apocalypse (winner of the Boston Music Award for Best International Artist). Timo has one of the biggest collection of self-notated transcriptions in the world, and has also written many transcription books for Hal Leonard Publishing, from Sonny Stitt and Wayne Shorter to Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis."
