Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

"In their first album together, Linsey Wellman and Mike Essoudry combine to explore the possibilities of tone, rhythm and melody. Over thirteen tracks and nearly an hour, they embrace stasis and movement, meditation and exuberance, delicacy and amplitude. Their improvisations and compositional sketches look both forward and back, to the ever new possibilities of instant creation, and to sounds, themes and evocations as old as humanity itself.

Linsey Wellman is an in-demand musician for his talents on the alto and soprano saxophones, the flute and the alto flute, and the bass clarinet. Known as a spontaneous and creative improviser, he has played and recorded with a diverse group of musicians including Rob Frayne, Pierre-Yves Martel, Petr Cancura, Ellen McIlwaine and Yves Lambert. His musical exploits have taken him as far as the Théatre Mohammed V in Rabat (Morocco), the Centre Culturel Bir Lahjar in Tunis (Tunisia), the Lincoln Centre in New York City and Festival au Désert in Essakane (Mali). He is currently living in Ottawa."-Ambiances Magnetiques

Drummer & percussionist Mike Essoudry has played with Pierre-yves Martel, Phillipe Lauzier, Petr Cancura, Adam Daurich, Mark Ferguson, Rick Rangno,& Chris Alfano. He states his influences as Claudia Quintet, John Hollenbeck, Dave Douglas, Steven Reich, John Adams, Maria Schneider.
