descriptions, reviews, &c.
The trio of New Yorker's Yvette Perez, Peter Zummo, and Danny Tunick in a set of delicate, mysterious and sophisticated songs about housework and nature. Most of the songs use tonal environments and the slow development of melodic implications, over which Perez sings in a sort of blank verse, harmonizing with herself in songs that convey exposed and sometimes desolate and disassociative imagery or metaphor. Zummo provides an excellent counterpoint in his extended language on the trombone, while Tunick's percussion is understated yet completely supportive of the moods of the songs.
Perez is also the bandleader/vocalist/songwriter/arranger for New York's avant-pop/jazz quintet Birdbrain, whose members include Peter Zummo, Michael Evans, Tim Noe, and Don Trubey, and she is the vocalist and synth player in Peter Zummo's Noisy Meditation Band, which has a revolving membership.
