"On Quasi-Convergence and Quiet Spaces is assembled from a series of edited solo computer improvisations executed between 2002-04. The direct-to-disk recordings were often by-products of custom generative and performance-based patches developed for group improvisations. In December 2006 these recordings were revisited after producing similar soundfiles for a site-specific performance exploring the acoustic properties of the Holy Trinity Church in Leeds (UK). The material from these sessions was edited and shaped into a coherent whole during January 2007. The work explores the relationship between self and group (other); improvisation and composition at different temporal and physical locations. On Quasi-Convergence and Quiet Spaces consists of five focused, evolving pieces, which combine rich textural swathes of sound and intricate shimmering tones with dark, organic abstract structures.
