Avenaim and Ambarchi may be known from their unusual Tzadik release The Alter Rebbe's Nigun in 1999, which Tzadik described as "one of the most extreme, passionate and fascinating recordings we've yet released." This 3" CD/18 minute masterpiece was originally released in 1999 on Ambarchi's own Jerker Productions label in an edition of 100. Recorded in front of a live audience, Avenaim and Ambarchi's electro-acoustic improvisations are in an AMM vein with rapidly moving ideas that cover a range of mood and emotion. Resonance and instrument interaction is an important part of the overall sound, with the electronics to back it up. Barely seen on its initial release, this is a startlingly interesting and downright psychedelic journey in sound that comes highly recommended.
