Bent Spoon Trio, The
March 3, 2005

Label: Bug Incision Records
Country: Canada

The Calgary based Bent Spoon Ensemble in a more compact version, this EP is a digital live recording of the band in a continuous performance. Without guitar the Bent Spoons have a more organic sound, making up for the missing member with an intensity that makes for compelling improvisation. The piece evolves over 33 minutes in distinctive sections that flow together easily, from strong grooves to thoughtful or abstract segments, with mischievous snippets and interjections from all 3. It's playful but serious music from a performing band that's developed a great language for themselves. Limited and numbered edition of 100.
