![]() "Jean-Marc Foussat struck again! Derek Bailey, Evan Parker, Joelle Leandre, George Lewis, Peter Kowald, Daunik Lazro at Dunois or elsewhere, and albums by renowned artists can be content to publish his "historical" treasures, Which already have a nice discography. But since he believes above all in the spirit of adventure and research that has animated him since his beginnings, he can not resist the urge to share with us a beautiful discovery, an unknown music. Here the Austrian violinist Irene Kepl gives us a superb opus solitaire of a beautiful invoice. The fingers strike the key, the bow waves on the strings, rubbing the stamps, tracing claws in the vibrating air. An organic vision of the instrument, an approach in turn playful, sensitive, minimal, luminous, elegiac, an intimate knowledge of harmonics and their frequencies. Know how to say the essential with the least interval in an infinite loop (Lucid) until the tension suddenly turns into torsion. An invisible net escapes like a whistle of ant, the hair brushing the rope, this action amplified imperceptibly gives rise to subtle harmonics barely audible (Move Across). Multiphonies using voice and soft bow (?) (Candid). Insistent and intense cadences stretched towards climax in decelerendo and orgiastic glissando or an ostinato / counterpoint stammering and frantic without solution of end (AmiNIMAL). Pizzicato extreme and minimalist (Drop in) Etc ... there is a whole range of fiddling game, a mastery of the timbres and a poetry of the sound that deserve to be listened to and re-listened for its relevance, its singularity and the pure pleasure of the sound . We heard Irene Kepl in a string quintet with Paul Rogers, Nina de Heney and Albert Markos in Austria which caused a sensation. So to follow !!"-Jean-Michel Van Schouwburg ![]() Improvised Music Free Improvisation Stringed Instruments Solo Artist Recordings New in Improvised Music |
