"Marbin's Breaking The Cycle -- their sophmore effort, and their first for MoonJune Records -- is a poised and powerful new release that is already garnering high praise from critics around the globe. The duo of Dani Rabin (guitars) and Danny Markovitch (saxes) display a chemistry, depth and maturity which truly belies their young ages. Breaking The Cycle is powered by the renowned rhythmic thrust of Pat Metheny Group veterans Paul Wertico (on drums) and Steve Rodby (on bass). A great mix of fusion, prog, jazz, folk and ambient music, the band's lithe interplay is sensitive and organic -- creating moments of surreal beauty. Rabin and Markovitch interact on an almost subconscious level producing music subtle, intuitive and flowing. The group was formed in Israel in June 2007 by guitarist Dani Rabin and saxophonist Danny Markovitch. In 2009, after relocating to Chicago, Marbin came out with their self-titled debut album. The album received praise from many publications including: All About Jazz, The Examiner, CD Baby 'Editor's Pick', The Jazz Police and more. Marbin has collaborated with 7-time Grammy winner Paul Wertico on his critically acclaimed record Impressions of a City. The record received a 4.5-star rating from Downbeat Magazine as well as other major publications such as; The Chicago Tribune, Drum! Magazine, A.V Onion Club, Modern Drummer, AllAboutJazz.com, and more. (From those initial sessions, a special chemistry was born between them, and Wertico is now a full-fledged band member.) Performing live has always been a passion for Rabin and Marlovitch -- has anyone ever attending a Marbin show or one of their infamous "apartment concerts" can attest. The diversity of styles and influence encapsulated within the pair never fails to produce unique, memorable moments for their listeners. In the short space of just a couple short years in the US, Marbin have played at: The Chi-town Jazz Festival, St John's Buskers On the Boardwalk Festival (NB, Canada), Harvest and Jazz Festival (NY), Walk In The Woods (WI), Burke Center Wine Festival (Burke, VA), Unicity Festival (MD), People's Festival (Marquette, MI), Chopin Theatre, Andy's, Green Mill, The Jazz Showcase, Fitzgerald's, Evanston Space, Underground Wonder Bar, The Abbey and many (many) more. Despite both Dani Rabin and Danny Markovitch being in their early 20's and only having played together for less than four years at the time of recording "Breaking The Cycle" for MoonJune, there is a unique chemistry to their playing. Stylistically, both musicians also display musical chops and sensibilities that defy their young age. Combine their individual styles, grace, diversity and unusual mastery of their respective instruments with the intuitive, complimentary fashion in which they play with one another, and you have a formula which bodes well for the future of Marbin -- and progressive music fans around the globe! Refusing to be pigeon-holed into one specific genre, the music of Marbin defies categorization while holding infinite promise. This is polished world music that trandscends borders. For fans of Pat Metheny, Terje Rypdal, Jan Garbarek, Oregon, and the "ECM sound"."-MoonJune Records
