The Silver Ash trio wtih Casey Block, Aaron Dugan and Jeff Arnal in a groove / interlocking rock oriented release with a King Crimson/Discipline era feel, an excellent little piece of vinyl!

Arnal / Block / Dugan
Silver Ash [7" RECORD]

Label: Generate Records
Country: USA

"Silver Ash's collective address book includes the numbers, or at least old office hours, of Matisyahu, Milford Graves, and Nate Wooley, but their orientation is eyes-rolled-back ecstatic rock, trance variant. The title of "Deathless: may be a comment upon itself, because it has the same single-minded commitment to the groove as Can circa Ege Bamyasi; some good ideas cannot die. Actually the notion is in good hands here, with guitarist Aaron Dugan acquitting himself well enough at pulse maintenance that percussionist Jeff Arnal can indulge in some busy decoration that spirals out from the beats sort of like the swirls in this 33 1/3-spinning record's rose-colored vinyl. "Lifeboat" is likewise derivative in a good way, answering the question "what if Sonic Youth wanted to sound like This Heat taming a hive of bees?"-Bill Meyer, Still Single

"Artist Bios

Dugan has clinched two Gold Records as lead guitarist on Matisyahu's Live at Stubb's and Youth, and has recorded two solo albums featuring his own compositions.

"Percussionist JEFF ARNAL's balletic sense of time and imaginative deployment of colour have combined into a highly original concept." (The Wire) Arnal frequently performs and collaborates with a wide range of musicians and choreographers in the U.S. and Europe. He has received grants and fellowships from ASCAP, Brooklyn Arts Council, Meet the Composer and Art Omi International. His music can be heard on a number of independent record labels, including Transit (Clean Feed 2009 & 2005), Rogue States with Gordon Beeferman (Generate 2006), MEJA with Michael Evans (C3R 2006) and with Dietrich Eichmann (Broken Research 2007 & Leo 2004)."-Generate Records
