A rare live performance from 2002 in NYC by Masami Akita (Merzbow) at the Swiss Institute of Contemporary Art, balancing noise and subtle almost pulse-like beats.

Merzbow
Live Magnetism

Label: Caminante
Country: USA

"The newest offering from Merzbow is a rare live performance from NYC. The music on this CD will please old and new Merzbow fans alike with a fine balance of noise and subtle almost pulse like beats. The CD is one track and it clocks in at just under one hour. Although this is a live recording the different textures come through loud and clear I can only liken it to being caught in an electrical storm. About halfway through the CD you hit the "eye of the storm" for a quick breather before the inevetiable second strike.

Live Magnetism was recorded at the Black Bonds exhibition, Swiss Institute - Contemporary Art, New York on December 6, 2002 (www.swissinstitute.net). It was a collaborative effort between artists Jutta Koether and Steven Parrino. Jutta and Steven also created the art for Live Magnetism based on their Black Bonds exhibition. Live Magnetism is based on a Merzbow studio album on Alien 8 Recordings called Animal Magnetism."-Caminante
