"Enos, is the latest release from Dominic Cramp (Borful Tang, Vulcanus 68, Modular Set) here under his other solo moniker, Qulfus. With Enos, his third Qulfus release, Cramp offers his most organic and musical offering to date; a futurist abstract blues instrumental record heavily influenced by classic soul and dub; a haunting world of echos from distant towns crying out over fog laden plains, lumbering beasts shuffling through a leafy stillness.

Unlike his previous Qulfus releases, based almost entirely around reconfigured samples from recorded mediums, Cramp adds the manipulation of tracked instruments into the mix. Electric bass, late analog synths, a Hammond L-100, multi-tracked vocals, pots and pans, cymbals and more, are all mixed into a ghostly soup with old outboard effects such as spring reverbs and analog delays.

There is still a fair amount of sample manipulation as on the first track "The Moustache", a collage piece created entirely from one old sixties tune by Vicente Fernandez, the famed mustachioed Mexican troubadour. Classic drum breaks are also utilized in tracks such as "Sneevely Calls on Yellow" which uses the famous Eddie Bo "Pass the Hatchet" break. However, all of these beats are chopped and morphed out of their usual "breaks" context and feel to create a soul/free jazz mutant drumming hybrid!

Under his Qulfus moniker, Cramp has also remixed a wide variety of artists both officially and surreptitiously, reconfiguring tunes by Duchesses, Hella, The Lovely Public, NoMeansNo, William Parker and more. He lives in Oakland, California."-Gigante Sound
