descriptions, reviews, &c.

"The expression "Nád" ("reed") comes from a Hungarian riddle about a child who heals the broken leg of a stork with "whistle, drum and reed fiddle". This album is the third part of the trilogy called Whistle, Drum and Reed which endeavours to give a broad overview of music by encompassing contemporary classical music (Hep 1, Stairs of Cassavetes), Eastern and Hungarian traditional and folk music (Wooden Sword, Circle Saw, Flat Ground, Rain Horses, Petition) and Afro-American traditions (Jungle Cat, Circle Saw, Hep 2, Flat Ground). Naturally, these sources of inspiration are not kept separate in the music. The material presents a summary of the influences that were defining for me; it has nointention of geing a comprehensive survey or retrospection of the musical traditions. Having the opportunity to work with a larger band inspired me."-Szilard Mezei, from the liner notes
