In 1754 violinist and theorist Giuseppe Tartini laid out a mathematical proof of a third tone's pitch as either the sum or difference of the other two articulated pitches, as investigated by Karolina Ossowska (violin), Mikolaj Palosz (cello) and Ralf Meinz (recording).
