An unusual sax and drum duo between Lithuanian saxophonist Liudas Mockunas, here performing on contrabass and prepared clarinet, tenor & soprano saxophones, with Christian Windfeld performing on prepared drum kit, drums, drums and cymbals, in two side-long improvisations, the first focusing on sonic subtlety, the second a rompingly idiosyncratic and energetic set.

Revisiting and remastering two 1958 albums on the Riverside Label (Monk in Action and Misterioso), then remastered as At The Five Spot on Milestone in 1977, this quartet show a different take on Monk's music through the authoritative playing and interpretations of Monk's music by tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin, intensified by drummer Roy Haynes and bassist Ahmed Abdul-Malik's solid support.

Three MinneapolisÐSaint Paul/Twin City improvisers--Brad Holden on saxophones, Dick Studer on bass and Steve Hirsh on drums--active in a variety of groups come together as a collective, named for a Buddhist concept of the consciousness that underlies the everyday thoughts about the world around us, heard in 12 improvisations emphasizing deep listening and open-minded expression.

Assertively dynamic solo piano improvisations captured live at the 2021 Monopiano Festival in Fylkingen, Stockholm from French-Filipina pianist Margaux Oswald, generating huge block chords over which she runs intricate and complex lines of clear and cohesive expression, pausing for delicate moments of space and introspection; wonderfully exuberant and well balanced.
