Hat Hut

Squidco Hat Hut 40% Anniversary Sale HatHut Records was founded in 1974 to document the work of saxophonist Joe McPhee. 40 years later, Werner X. Uehlinger's label has grown into a premier documenter of new jazz, classical and improvised music with over 300 titles in its catalogue, including releases by Steve Lacy, Anthony Braxton, and Cecil Taylor, as well as groundbreaking works by John Cage and Morton Feldman. As the scope of the effort expanded, the label introduced new divisions, and currently works under a variety of branches, including HatART hatOLOGY (for Jazz and related improvised music), hat[now]ART (to represent Contemporary Composition and New Music), and hatNOIR (to serve as a home for fresh, unpredictable, innovative, uncategorizable projects).
