McGregor's pre-Brotherhood band, Blue Notes, great South African musicians riding high in the London jazz scene, and releasing this debut album on Polydor.

McGregor Group, The Chris
Very Urgent

Label: Fledg'ling
Country: UK

Credited to pianist Chris McGregor before forming his Brotherhood of Breath band, Very Urgent was actually the debut recording of the group Blue Notes. An amzing South African Jazz sextet, most of the bands pieces were written by McGregor, with one track by saxophonist Dudu Pukwana, and one traditional African tune. The band moved from South Africa to London, establishing themselves as one of the great free jazz bands of the European scene. This long-awaited reissue has been remastered, finally bringing this exhilarating album back to an eager public.
