Gravitones
plus Sounding Brass

Label: for T
Country: The Netherlands

All compositions by Augusto Forti. "Clarinettist Augusto Forti, based in Amsterdam, has strong links with Dutch free improvisors. In the 80's he took composition classes with Misha Mengelberg. That surface at times, but Gravitones, despite their name serve up mainly light and affable blend of music for good times, sometimes redolent of funk an African pop, with touches of cabaret jazz. Sounding Brass, a quartet with Martin Mayes on French Horn and Oren Marshall on tuba, appear on three tracks, and shift the emphasis further towards Willem Breuker territory."-Julian Cowley, The Wire
