• Show Bio for Mark Hannesson "Mark Hannesson (b. 1968) is a composer and sound artist who writes instrumental, electronic and mixed works. As well, he is an active performer of live electronic music playing laptop, no-input mixer and badly tuned theremin. Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, he completed a Bachelor degree in Music from Brandon University and a Master degree in Composition at the University of Alberta. He completed a doctorate (DMA) in Composition at the University of British Columbia. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta teaching courses in Composition, Music Technology and Experimental Improvisation. Known for his dedication to contemporary music, Roger has commissioned and premiered many new compositions. He works regularly for New Music Edmonton, and also performs as part of Kovalis Duo with Montreal percussionist Philip Hornsey Roger studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), University of Western Ontario, and the University of Alberta (where he graduated with a Doctor of Music degree.) His main teachers were Virginia Blaha, Peter Smith, Arthur Rowe, and Helmut Brauss.
