Art Ensemble of Chicago
The Meeting

Label: Pi Recordings
Country: USA

The second AECO since Lester Bowie's death, and the first with saxophonist Joseph Jarman since he left the group in 1999. The Meeting begins with an uptempo Jarman song reminiscent of the early Atlantic sides, but moves quickly into meditatifve territory with extended solo and percussion segments. It mixes the energy of the "meeting" with the experience of their decades-long relationship.
