A furious live recording from Poland, 2009 of the Volume quartet of saxophonist Mikolaj Trzaska, trombonis Johannes Bauer, bassist Peter Friis Nielsen, and drummer Peter Ole Jorgensen.

Volume
Tungt Vand

Label: Ninth World
Country: Denmark

"Volume was formed in 2004 by Trzaska, Nielsen & Jørgensen. Three highly individual and diverse musicians, who belongs to the top performers on the European Improvisation / freeform scene. In 2008 Johannes Bauer joined the group. Bauer had previously played with Jørgens & Nielsen in The Wild Mans Band & Sweet- hearts In A Drugstore. Over the years Volume have been touring intensively which have resulted in its very it's own sound.

Tungt Vand is a furious live recording, captured in Bydgoszcz, Poland during Volume's 2009 tour. The music Volume created that night burn's hard. It is a power- ful statement from both Bauer and Trzaska, blowing fire into the rhythms & grooves, created by the "Danish Drum & Bass team" Jørgensen and Nielsen, who does a magnificent job - as two manic pathfinders, constantly supporting the front line and at the same time seeking for new directions to expand the music. Volume's first album "Æter" was released in 2008 to much criti- cal acclaim and was one of the best selling jazz CD's in Poland in 2008."-Ninth World Music
