"sum and difference is an album of collaborative improvisational compositions for laptop and instrument, developed over the past year between laptop improviser Sam Pluta and instrumentalists Peter Evans and Jim Altieri.

Peter Evans and Sam Pluta have been working together for the past three years in various free settings as well as in the electro-acoustic jazz combo, the Peter Evans Quintet. Jim Altieri and Sam Pluta have been performing together for six years and are founding members of the two violin/two laptop improvisation quartet Glissando Bin Laden. GBL's first album, Drone Level Orange, was released on Carrier Records in 2009."-Carrier
